Mental Health in Business - a FREE two hour Workshop
This Mental Health Awareness Week, 8-14 May 2017, we as a nation are going to look at mental health from a new angle. Instead of looking into why, so many of us are affected by mental health challenges, it is time to look at what can be done about it and whether, we as a society and corporate community, are merely surviving or thriving?
In the UK 60 million working days are lost annually due to mental ill health, costing Britain £60 - £90bn and as 1 in 6 of the UK's workforce struggles with Mental Health challenges, it is one that businesses can no longer ignore. Are you fully prepared within your own business? Are you aware of those individuals within your own workforce who may require support?
Published author, former Neuroscientist, successful entrepreneur and founder of MyCognition, Keiron Sparrowhawk said: “Advances in Neuroscience & Technology allow us to measure, monitor, prevent & treat mental illness in schools, the workplace, domestic and clinical settings by targeting cognitive fitness. Cognitive fitness is a major component of and a significant predictor of mental illness" Keiron also has over 40 years of medical product development expertise and experience.
In support of this, we have designed a bespoke two hour workshop that will concentrate on supporting the SME business, their workforce, their management and the individual. As a SME, not all necessarily have the resources to be able to financially support someone with Mental Health challenges and so, how can they best show their support, without it using considerable resources that may leave some SME's in a precarious position?
On Tuesday 09 May 17 we will be providing this workshop to Buckinghamshire Businesss First Members at their head office in Saunderton, which can be Booked Here. That aside, over the period 08 - 14 May 17 we are offering to visit businesses throughout Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire for FREE, on a first come first serve basis, in order to provide our assistance with this two hour workshop.
The Workshop will address, the stigma surrounding Mental Health in the workplace and how to recognise it, employee involvement and relationships, what can help to minimise it, and suggested support and training for your supervisors, line managers and management. Three key benefits you will gain from this Workshop are;
- How to recognise symptoms
- How to support individuals and/or management
- What next
Founder of Wilsons Life, Nick Wilson, who himself struggles daily with the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD said: “I am personally very aware of the pros and cons associated with employing those with Mental Health challenges. However, I also managed to build a successful chauffeur business to prove that those with Mental Health challenges can compete with those who don’t. By simply understanding their limitations, then relating those skills to your industry whilst providing support and training, you can continue to benefit as a successful business whilst employing those with mental health challenges”.
We are expecting this to be in high demand and with it being based on a first come, first serve basis, we highly recommend you don't delay and Register Your Interest with us ASAP to find out more.
